STUART DAVIS (American, 1892-1964) “THREE WOMEN”. Oil on canvas shows three individuals wearing coats and hats. Attached to back is a Portland Museum of Art label typed with artist, title and also indicating that it was lent by Ellen and Chris Huntington. Housed in a good silver gilt frame with gilt liner. A written history on the reverse indicates that the painting was given by Stuart to Chas + Alice Winter Studio in Gloucester, CT. (friends of his) Sold to Mr. & Mrs. Chris Huntington. Shown in Portland Museum of Art, Sold to Former owner of Mystic Fine Arts, (Attorney) SIZE: 17″ x 15″. CONDITION: Relined, inpainting. Very good. 9-97309 (8,000-12,000)
