SACK-BACK WINDSOR ARMCHAIR. Last quarter 18th century, New York. The bowed crest rail joined to seven tapered spindles, joined to the mid-rail continuing scrolled paddle hand grips. All above a deeply shaped saddle seat raised on splayed vase ring- and reel-turned legs, joined by a swelled turned H-form stretcher. The whole with black painted surfaces. SIZE: h of back: 40-1/2″ h of seat: 18-1/4″. Overall w: 28-1/2″. CONDITION: Proper right hand grip with small loss to underside, base has been tightened over time. No other restorations or replacements noted. Black painted surfaces are over earlier paint history. Generally good. 9-28491 (4,000-6,000)
