*COLT FIRST GENERATION SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. SN 355466. Cal. 44 Spcl. Blue & color case hardened with 5-1/2″ bbl, slightly altered thick front sight and 1-line block letter address with late first generation caliber marking on left side. Left side of frame has 2-line 3-patent dates and a lightly struck rampant Colt without circle. Mounted with rampant Colt hard rubber grips numbered “6292” on inside of each grip. SN was observed on bottom of frame & on right side of front & back straps under grip. Rear face of cyl is stamped with last two digits of SN. Hammer is unusual for such a late first generation revolver in that it is color case hardened instead of being polished bright on sides with blue top & rear edges. This revolver is also in a block of serial numbers that have no record at Colt. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains 97-98% strong orig factory blue with only light muzzle edge wear on left side and a bright edge on front sight where it has been reduced in height. Ejector rod housing retains 96-97% strong orig factory blue. Frame & hammer retain virtually all of their orig factory case colors, bright & strong in sheltered areas, brilliant in front gullets, moderately faded over top strap, recoil shield & loading gate. Trigger guard & back strap retain about all of their strong factory blue with front strap having been cleaned with coarse steel wool or some other abrasive. Grips are a little oversized but fine and show little or no wear. Cyl retains 95-96% strong orig blue, crisp in the flutes. Hammer is not solid in safety notch, otherwise mechanics are fine, brilliant shiny bore. 4-40802 JR203 (5,000-8,000)
