WILLIAM AND MARY BLANKET CHEST IN RED PAINT. First third 18th century, Connecticut or Massachusetts. This well proportioned pine example with rectangular hinged lid with applied molded edge opening to a storage well above two long drawers on a molded base raised on shaped bracket feet. The case sides with double arch molding. SIZE: 33″ h x 17-1/2″ d. Case width: 37″. CONDITION: Blanket chest retains very good original dry paint and good patina, hinges are old replacements, top of backboards showing minor wood losses and marks from previous hinges, brass is replaced, proper left lid molding with old loss along rear top edge with minor age appropriate abrasions.
