HANDEL BLACK BIRD TABLE LAMP. The domical shade begins with a chipped ice, lightly sanded finish that is painted on the interior with two pairs of very colorful exotic birds of paradise. These birds are set amidst a stylized floral pattern with branches. The floral pattern is painted in tan and orange with crystal lime color highlighting these flowers. All of this decoration is on a black matte ground that looks like velvet. The exotic birds are painted in lush colors of purple, orange, red and blue with their faces and plumage being extremely well done. The shade is supported by a three socket base that carries a brown finish and has three stylized columns above a two tier platform foot. Shade is signed on the aperture ring “Handel” and in the interior rim “Handel 7026” as well as being artist signed “Bedige”. Base is signed on the underside with “Handel Lamps” felt label. SIZE: Shade is 18″ dia. Overall 23″ t. CONDITION: Shade is very good to excellent with the original polychrome ring. Base is very good to excellent. 5-68214 (12,000-15,000)
