FINE RHODE ISLAND CHIPPENDALE TIGER MAPLE SLANT-LID DESK. Third quarter 18th century. The rectangular dovetailed case with hinged thumbmolded sloping lid, opening to a stepped interior fitted with four valanced pigeonholes and three square drawers pinwheel- and fan-carved, above a row of drawers stepped back over two additional drawers, the case with four graduated long drawers, all thumbmolded, raised on ogee bracket feet with shaped returns. Desk has exceptional figured woods throughout. SIZE: 44-3/4″ h. x 38″ case w. x 19″ overall d. CONDITION: Desk with fine, cleaned, and polished original surfaces.
