Correction: This wonderful old eglomise mirror has a very old crack in the glass panel at the top which we unfortunately did not notice during the cataloging.

FINE FEDERAL MAHOGANY AND PARCEL-GILT MIRROR. Circa 1800, Hudson River Valley, New York. The rectangular mirror plate within a gilt surround surmounted by a rectangular eglomise panel decorated with a pastoral landscape all within a mahogany frame with string inlay with parcel-gilt molded edge flanked by leaf-tip fillets. The parcel-gilt swan’s neck molded pediment terminating in floral rosettes centering a classical urn emitting wheat stalks and flower buds. The deeply scrolled apron of figured mahogany. For similar examples, see “The Mirror Book” by Herbert F. Schiffer, plates448, 449 & 450. SIZE: 61-1/2″h x 21-3/4″w. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: Very good overall. Surfaces appear untouched with good color and patina. Eglomise panel and mirror plate original, both with moderate foxing. Backboards original. 9-24555 (3,000-5,000)
