COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. SN 162405. Cal. 38 WCF (38-40). Blue & color case hardened with 4-3/4″ bbl, full front sight, 2-line bbl address and caliber marking on left side. Left side of frame has 2-line 3-patent dates and rampant Colt in a circle. Mounted with rampant Colt hard rubber grips. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter fully identifying this revolver has found, type of stocks not listed, shipped to Simmons Hardware Co., St. Louis, MO on Aug. 15, 1895 in a shipment of 15 same type revolvers. PROVENANCE: David Crocker Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Overall retains about 95% strong orig finish with some slight muzzle edge wear and the outer radius of ejector rod housing flaked to a blue/brown patina. Frame & hammer retain about all of their strong, bright factory case colors, thin on recoil shield & loading gate, brilliant in sheltered areas. Trigger guard & back strap retain most of their orig blue, thin on front & back straps. Cyl retains about 80% thin orig blue. Grips are sound and while they are probably not orig to this revolver, do fit extremely well and are of the period with very light diamond point wear. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore with scattered light pitting. 4-36844 JR9 (4,000-7,000)
