ARMAND JULES LEVEEL (French 1821-1905) TWO BRONZES, DRUMMER AND BUGLER WITH MATCHING STANDS. Third quarter 19th century, French. The figural bronzes depicting a drummer in full military uniform and a bugler similarly attired. Each leaning against partially destroyed fencing. Each mounted on a circular plinth engraved with the artist’s name “A. LEVEEL”. In addition each plinth engraved with the name of the foundry “DELESALLE ET CIE EDIT”. This lot is accompanied by a pair of two-tier tripod stands embellished with brass mounts, raised on brass sabots. SIZE: Statues: 18″ h; Stands: 43″ h. CONDITION: The bronzes with unaltered patina, dark greenish brown coloration. No damages or restoration noted. The stands retain original polished surfaces, all in very good condition. 9-22575 (5,000-8,000)
