*COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH UNUSUAL FACTORY LETTER. SN 354075. Cal. 44 Spcl. Blue & color case hardened with 5-1/2″ bbl, thick front sight with target serrations on rear edge and 1-line block letter address with late first generation caliber markings on left side. Left side of frame has 2-line 3-patent dates and rampant Colt without circle. Mounted with rampant Colt hard rubber grips with a SN “352033” in right side and “354219” in left side. SN was observed on bottom of frame and on right side of front & back straps under grip. Cyl is unmarked. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter identifying this revolver in caliber 44 S&W with 5-1/2″ bbl, blue finish, type of stocks not listed and shipped to Von Lengerke and Antoine, Chicago, IL, on June 19, 1930 in a 1-gun shipment. The letter also, unusually, has a special notation “targeted” and date of manufacture June 18, 1930, with Colt factory order #18504/1. Given that it received special “targeted” attention it is logical that the front sight was serrated at the factory. Workmanship is very professional and even, such as the factory would do. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Bbl & ejector rod housing retain about 98% crisp orig factory blue with only light sharp edge wear. Frame & hammer retain about all of their orig factory case colors, moderately faded, brilliant in sheltered areas. Screws retain about all of their bright blue. Cyl retains 95-96% strong orig factory blue, crisp in the flutes. Trigger guard, front & back straps retain about all of their strong factory blue with some slight thinning on trigger bow and one small spot on back strap. Grips fit reasonably well and show little or no wear. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. 4-40801 JR202 (6,000-9,000)
