*SCARCE SPECIAL ORDER FIRST GENERATION COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. SN 355484. Cal. 32 Colt. Blue & color case hardened with 5-1/2″ bbl, full front sight and 1-line block letter address with late pre-war markings on left side. Markings are not standard size but indicative of a special production. Left side of frame has 2-line 3-patent dates and rampant Colt without circle. Mounted with rampant Colt hard rubber grips that are numbered to this revolver. The SN was noted on the bottom of the frame and on the right side of the front & back straps under the grip with the last three digits of the SN on rear face of the cylinder. The number “315” appears on the face of the cyl around the bushing hole. Inside the grips are heat marked with the initials “JS”. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter identifying this revolver, as found, in caliber 32 Colt with 5-1/2″ bbl, blue finish, type of stocks not listed and sold to City of Atlanta, Georgia, shipped to City of Atlanta Police Dept., Atlanta, GA, on Nov. 4, 1935 in a 1-gun shipment. According to Colt Peacemaker Encyclopedia, Cochran, there were only 192 of the approx. 354,000 Colt Single Action Army revolvers produced during the entire production from 1873 to 1940. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching including cyl & grips. Bbl & cyl retain about 98% glossy, dark orig blue with only faint sharp edge wear and two small scratches on top of bbl. Frame retains about all of its orig factory case colors, moderately faded, brilliant in sheltered areas. Hammer retains about all of its brilliant fire blue on top & back edges with bright polished sides. Grip frame retains virtually all of its orig factory blue. Grips are crisp showing little or no wear. Mechanics are crisp, strong bright bore with light to moderate pitting. 4-40799 (7,500-9,500)
