LONE STAR QUILT WITH DARK BLUE BACKGROUND, LANCASTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA. Circa 1875. Maker unknown. Lone Star quilt with eight satellite stars. The large star is pieced from seventeen rows of diamonds (each point has 81 diamonds). All fabrics are solid cottons in cheddar, light yellow, red, light pink, medium blue, and indigo blue. The background is a dark blue. The large red border has inner border of triangles in light yellow, light pink, cheddar, and red. Hand quilted with 8 stitches per inch, outlined 1/8” from seams of diamonds. Background is quilted in a hanging grid; large border has a triple cable. Quilt has a very thin cotton batting, a hand sewn light pink binding, and a large turkey red paisley cotton print back. SIZE: 82” x 84”. PROVENANCE: PA Quilt & Textile Museum.
