EARLY SPRINGFIELD 1873 TRAPDOOR WITH MASSACHUSETTS SURCHARGE. SN 52153. Cal. 45-70. With 1st type markings on breech block, no proofs on bbl, coarse checkered hammer, otherwise standard configuration and markings, except receiver ring is stamped “MASS” and with a large number “48”. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining a considerable amount of orig finish under overall darkening patina and grime. Wood is very fine, with a number of marks and dings, Unfortunately one is directly on top of inspectors mark on left side. Bore is fine with some light pitting toward muzzle.
