BURGUN & SCHVERER VASE. Classic form vase depicts a gladiator with maiden each being nicely enameled in colors of white and pink. They are set against a gold and cutback ground with designs of drapes, columns and animals; the influential colors being gold, burgundy, green and white. This design is further enhanced on foot and collar with a black and white fleur-de-lis. The vase is finished with two applied glass handles that are further decorated. All of this is on glass that is designed to look like marble with internal green streaks. Signed “Meisenthal B.S. & Co. This vase is based on a story of Walter Crane (English 1845-1915) who is considered the most prolific and influential children’s book writer of his time. SIZE: 9” t.
