RARE WELLS FARGO MARKED COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. SN 154612. Cal. 45 Colt. Usual configuration with 4-3/4″ bbl, full front sight & 2-line address with caliber marking on left side. Left side of frame has 2-line, 3-patent dates and rampant Colt in a circle. Mounted with rampant Colt hard rubber grips and butt strap is factory inscribed “W.F. & Co.” for Wells Fargo & Company. According to Colt Peacemaker Encyclopedia, Volume 2, Cochran, there were probably less than 200 of these single actions so marked by the factory with the majority of them in the modern era, making this a somewhat rare specimen. CONDITION: Good to very good. No orig finish remains being an overall gray/brown patina with scattered pitting and showing heavy wear. Grips have a few minor chips and some notches on bottom edges and show heavy wear with an escutcheon repair inside right grip. Frame grip locator pin is a replacement. Hammer is not solid in safety notch, otherwise mechanics are fine. Strong bore with scattered moderate pitting. 4-40142 JR116 (7,500-10,500)
