FINE LOUIS XV FRUIT WOOD FAUTEUIL A LA REINE. Third quarter, 18th century. French. This fine carved armchair with arched cress-rail continuing to the padded rectangular back joined to out-curved padded armrests, the hand grips carved with flower heads and bell flowers on in-curve foliate-carved supports centering the over upholstered trapezoidal seat with serpentine frontal rail. Molded and foliate carved. Raised on carved cabriole legs with terminating snail feet, the legs joined by a molded serpentine “x” form stretcher. Covered in a celadon, textured silk fabric by Scalamandre. SIZE: 45″ h x (overall) 28-1/4″ w x (height of seat) 17-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Overall very good. Frame has been tightened at the time of re-covering with warm and mellow patina. Some minor losses to toe of back foot. 9-24124 (7,000-9,000)
