HENRIK-DIRK KRUSEMAN VAN ELTON (American, 1829-1904) “SPRING MORNING”. Outstanding large oil on canvas spring scene shows a winding river through bush and tree lined banks under a morning light sky. Light shines across the background casting reflections on the water and brightness to the background trees. Signed lower right “Kruseman Van Elton N.A.”. An outstanding use of pallet to capture the nuances of light and dark. Probably a scene of the Farmington River outside of Hartford, CT. Housed in its outstanding original wide gesso decorated and gilt frame. An original label on reverse pen written with title, artist, “Studio Bldg 51 W 10th St”. SIZE: 26″ x 42″. PROVENANCE: From a private collection. CONDITION: The canvas having a light linen backing with a heavier linen edge lining. Some inpainting, mostly to left corner. Very good.
