PETER KORNBECK (Danish, 1837-1894) WINGED LION OF SAINT MARK, VENICE. Outstanding oil on canvas scene shows the tall columned monument with a winged lion atop in a Piazza with the section of a columned building on the left which we believe is the Lireria Sansoviniana. A sailboat is moored to the right and nineteen people are seen at various points of the painting. Some sitting below the monument, some strolling and some working. A nice light blue sky with a background of the canal and large buildings. Signed lower left “P Kornbeck 1886”. Housed in a gold gilt wood frame with velvet shaped matte. SIGHT SIZE: 11” x 18-3/4”.
