TWO REGENCY TEA CADDIES. Circa 1800, England. Both of casket form. The first a rosewood example inlaid with brass stringing mounted with lion’s mask ring handles. The hinged lid opening to an interior of later burgundy velvet lined compartments. The second example in mahogany with sloping sides. The lid opening to an interior of three compartments raised on disc feet. SIZE: 7-1/2″ h x 13″ l x 6-3/4″ d. 7″ h x 12″ l x 6-1/4″ d. PROVENANCE: From the private collection and estate of Robert Nugent, Glenridge, New Jersey. CONDITION: The first with veneer repairs and small losses to brass inlay. The second missing lids to compartments. Otherwise both good to very good. 9-28257 (600-800)
