CHIPPENDALE ROCOCO CARVED GILT AND PAINTED LOOKING GLASS. Second half 18th century. The rectangular mirror plate within a carved and molded frame with original salmon and ochre painted surfaces. Scrolling crest with foliate cartouche flanked by floral vinery further flanked by C-scrolled ears and pendant floral sprays. SIZE: 45″ h x 35″ w. PROVENANCE: Collection and shop contents of Linda and the late Vito Peri (owners of the Blue Dolphin Antique Shop, Northport, Maine). CONDITION: Painted and gilded surfaces mostly good, showing normal and expected wear, old dormant insect damage to carvings, tight stress crack to top of crest, mirror plate old but probably not original with foxing and losses.
