HAND QUILTED AMERICAN FLAG BABY’S CRIB QUILT. Forty-eight stars all hand quilted. This flag quilt has a history of having been made by the wife of a solider who had fought in the front lines in France during World War I. The flag had been made for the soldier’s child who was born after he had been shipped to France. The child slept with the quilt for a week to several weeks, before it was sent by the mother to her husband, the child’s father, so that he could carry the warmth of his child embodied in the quilted flag. Through the grace of God he safely returned from the war to his family with quilt in hand. SIZE: 31 1/2″l x 19 1/2″w. CONDITION: Overall sun fade of color with white staining and one 1/4″ spot. Minor 3″ of thread quilting on upper right corner of stripes. 1-27521 (300-500)
