IMPORTANT DOUBLE “FRIENDSHIP” SAMPLER. Circa 1804, New England. This rare example of a pictorial sampler wrought by friends, conjoined at the center by a heart. One signed “Rebecca Reed”, the other signed “Lydia, age 6” and dated 1804. Sampler on right with verse, “best friends you and me for all of our eternity”. Each sampler depicting a house and tree with birds and butterflies. Each with cresting wave design on upper border. Sampler housed in crusty green painted molded frame. SIZE: Sight: 9-1/4″ x 15″. Overall: 12″ x 18″. CONDITION: Samplers retain good coloration, structurally very good with overall toning. 9-28469 (3,000-5,000)
