EARL CUNNINGHAM (American, 1893-1977) “AMERICAN PRIMITIVE”. Oil on board scene shows a waterway between two pieces of land having Cyprus type trees. The foreground has a D-shaped island with house and large tree. The waterway has a birch bark canoe with one Native American with yellow paddle. A canoe with three Native Americans, a rectangular rowboat with man rowing, a group of five white ducks and three pink flamingos. Beyond the trees is a colorful landscape under yellow, brown and black sky. Signed and titled bottom left. Housed in a painted flat wood frame with white liner. SIZE: 15-1/2″ x 23-1/2″. PROVENANCE: Recently found in a New England home. CONDITION: Very good. 9-94196 (15,000-25,000)
