TWO FEDERAL MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIRS. First quarter 19th century, American. 1) The molded arched crestrail continuing to molded stiles centering an intricately carved splat of plume design with floral rosettes. The trapezoidal seat with serpentine front rail covered in brass studded floral silk brocade raised on square molded frontal legs joined by recessed box stretcher. 2) Shield back centennial example with arched ogival molded crestrail fitted with a shaped slip seat covered in striped silk embroidery raised on square tapered molded frontal legs. SIZE: 1) 35-1/2″ h of back. 2) 38″ h of back. CONDITION: 1) Restoration to crestrail at shoulder and at splat. 2) Repolished, very good. 9-28228-1 (200-300)
