RUSS VICKERS (American, 1923-1997) “IT TAKES AN APACHE”. Oil on canvas western Civil War scene shows an Apache guide mounted atop his horse pointing the way to a Union officer on horseback. There are seven other soldiers on horseback below. The backdrop is a Sequoia dotted desert landscape with mountains under blue and cloud sky. Signed lower right and dated “1980”. Housed in a good carved weathered wood frame with gilt and linen liner. Titled, dated, and signed on reverse. SIZE: 24″ x 36″. PROVENANCE: From a private New York Collection.
