IMPORTANT EARLY AMERICAN SILVER BEAKER. Circa 1740, probably Boston, Massachusetts. Unmarked, maker unknown. The tapering cylindrical beaker with everted rim, inverted foot with stepped molded foot rim. The beaker engraved “The Gift of Mr. Roland Cotton to the Second Church of Christ In Woburn, 1740“. Weight: 7 troy ounces. SIZE: 5-3/4” H. PROVENANCE: Property of First Church, Congregational, Woburn, Massachusetts. Reference: On loan to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Massachusetts circa 1910 for the exhibition of 1911. L-R 14.10. CONDITION: With overall minor light surface scratches and with three small vertical creases in body. Other minor and minimal dents. Foot rim slightly out of round. Otherwise very good.
