IMPORTANT EARLY AMERICAN SILVER BEAKER. Circa 1740, probably Boston, Massachusetts. Unmarked, maker unknown. The tapering cylindrical beaker with everted rim, inverted foot with stepped molded foot rim. The beaker engraved “The Gift of Mr. Roland Cotton to the First Church of Christ In Woburn, 1740“. Weight: 6.9 troy ounces. SIZE: 5-3/4” H. PROVENANCE: Property of First Church, Congregational, Woburn, Massachusetts. Reference: On loan to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Massachusetts circa 1910 for the exhibition of 1911. L-R 13.10. CONDITION: With surface scratches overall and with minor and minimal shallow denting and dimples. Foot rim slightly out of round. Possible small vertical repair to foot rim, but unsure.
