A MOST UNUSUAL SANTA IN SLEDGE PULLED BY A REINDEER. Pictured on page 85 of The Holiday Toys and Decoration Book by Margaret Schiffer & page 42 The Santa Claus Picture Book by Maggie Rogers and Peter Halliman, this is a most elusive and seldom found Santa item. The sledge itself appears to be made of a pot metal type material and the reindeer of perhaps a wire armature covered with a papier mache type material. This piece is mounted on to a board with simulated snow and contained within a small metal case with a winter background (probably did not originally accompany toy). The Mylins were particularly proud of this toy in their collection. SIZE: 8-1/2”. CONDITION: Extremely fine original condition, sledge near mint, reindeer has some flaking to paint on body. JL 1-6657 (800-1,200) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2006 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
