NEW ENGLAND INLAID MAHOGANY FEDERAL LOLLING CHAIR. First quarter of the 19th Century, probably Massachusetts. Rectangular over-upholstered canted back with serpentine crest rail joined to serpentine arms continuing to incurved supports, all with contrasting string inlay centering a trapezoidal over-upholstered seat, raised on square tapering frontal legs and back-swept rear legs joined by a recessed box stretcher. SIZE: 40″ h of back x 26″ overall w x 15″ seat h. CONDITION: The arms with restoration and reinforcement, rear legs spliced. Otherwise very good. 9-98793 (2,000-4,000)
