RARE REMINGTON 1867 NAVY ROLLING BLOCK PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. SN 2455. Cal. 50CF, 7″ rnd bbl with round base pinched blade front sight. Left side of bbl at receiver has anchor stamp. Small rolling block receiver has usual markings on lower left side of frame but are difficult to read. Lower right side is stamped “P / F.C.W.” Right side of grip finds a small “C.E.H.” stamping. Inspection of tangs on left side reveals matching “2455” on upper and lower tangs as well as bbl under forend. Right side of tangs are both stamped “58”. Precise production numbers are not known. Believed to be made in the early 1870s and factory-converted from Model 1865. Accompanied with extremely rare bridal leather holster marked on front “ORD’DEPT” over an oval marked “NAVY YARD / NY / 1872” with anchors either side of date. Simple holster with belt loop and retaining strap sewn on and a brass finial. This holster should be considered extremely rare. PROVENANCE: Bruce M. Cady Estate Collection CONDITION: Very Good. Bbl retains a brown patina mixed with some silver, very fine surface oxidation and traces of orig blue on bottom. Receiver retains orig blue that is thinning and blending with brown patina. Hammer retains a silver hardening color while breech block a dark patina. Grips are sound with some minor nicks & scratches and retains an oil finish with hand-worn patina as well as forend. Mechanics are crisp, good bore with distinct rifling and being lightly frosted. Holster is in good condition with stitching intact and mostly an aged, cracked finish. 4-36937 BDT252 (4,000-7,000)
