REMINGTON MODEL 1861 (OLD MODEL ARMY) ARMY PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Perc. SN 1924. Blued finish, 8” oct bbl with “PATENTED DEC. 17 1861 / MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS’ ILION. N.Y” Bbl & frame inspector marked “CCJ”, with the second “C” being upside down. “HJ” is on the cyl. Dovetail cone German silver front sight, brass triggerguard, & 2-pc smooth walnut grips with “CGC” (Charles G. Curtis) cartouche on both sides of grip. This revolver is very an early 1861 model in that the serial numbers began with 1900. Revolver manufactured at a factory in Utica, NY that Remington established. This is a typical example of an early ’61 model in design with solid frame, no safety notches & cyl pin spring detent & high hammer spur. This is a rarely seen early revolver, heavily used in Civil War. CONDITION: Good. Traces of orig blue remain, with smooth brown enhanced patina. Grips have been cleaned & show wear at the bottom. 4-59371 JH117 (3,000-4,000)
