CABINET MAKERS, CHAIR MAKERS, ORGAN BUILDER, PIANO FORTE MAKERS, TURNERS AND PLANE MAKERS SILK TRADE BANNER. Circa 1st half 19th Century. The hanging banner mounted to a round wood dowel with hanging loop having oil painted decoration on both sides with light green later addition yarn fringe. One side with “OUR CHORDS OF EARTHLY HARMONY LEAD TO THE REGIONS OF THE GOLDEN HARP.” in cream and black letters with some red and brown shadowing. The reverse with “OUR CABINET ALTHOUGH COMPOSED OF DIFFERENT MATERIALS IS TOO STRONGLY CEMENTED TO BE EASILY SEPARATED.” in black letters with some red shadowing. The phrase presented within a wreath of red roses all on a white silk background. SIZE: 34″ h x 40″ w. PROVENANCE: Maine Charitable Mechanic Association (Portland, ME).
