LARGE AND IMPORTANT BANNERETTE WEATHERVANE. Last quarter 19th century. This unique bannerette in copper and wrought iron framing six pierced copper sheets of alternating designs of X’s and O’s. The rear of the banneret mounted with four copper spheres, the front with baluster-turned arrow head, terminating in stylized fletches with pierced designs. The whole surmounted by a heavy spiral twist wrought-iron shaft. Now mounted on a museum stand. With very nice original verdigris surfaces. SIZE: 46″ h x 53″ l. CONDITION: Structurally very good. Surfaces as noted. Normal and expected corrosion with light rusting. 7-70333 (2,500-3,500)
