RARE FEDERAL EGLOMISE AND GILTWOOD LOOKING GLASS, WALLACE NUTTING PROVENANCE. Circa 1810, Massachusetts. The rectangular mirror plate above the original eglomise panel depicting a young boy in red jacket on riverbank. Within molded surrounds, beneath a stepped molded crest mounted with spherules. The concave molded sides with rope twist trim. Note: A label affixed to the backboard on letter head reads: “Memorandum From Katherine Turner’s Antique Shop”. The description reads: “June 20th, 1950/American Sheraton Mirror Circa 1810. From the Collection of Wallace Nutting. ‘Nutting House’-Framingham, Mass.” SIZE: 28-1/2″ h x 16-3/4″ w. PROVENANCE: From the private collection and estate of Robert Nugent, Glenridge, New Jersey. Jeffrey Tillou Antiques, Litchfield, Connecticut. CONDITION: Structurally good, and all original. Even wear overall go gilt surfaces. Spot losses to paint on eglomise panel. Mirror plate fogged and with foxing to silvered back. 9-28244 (400-600)
