NEW ENGLAND FEDERAL CHERRY SLANT LID DESK. Early 19th century, probably Connecticut. The rectangular dovetail case with thumb molded hinged lid, supported by lopers, opening to an interior fitted with a row of valanced compartments above an arrangement of small drawers, all above four graduated long drawers with thumb molded edges on a molded base, raised on bracket feet with scalloped returns. SIZE: 42″ h x 36″ case w x 18-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From the private collection and estate of Robert Nugent, Glenridge, New Jersey. CONDITION: Professionally refinished and restored, the desk of a now light golden brown color. Overall very good. 9-28208 (1,000-1,500)
