PENNSYLVANIA PAINT DECORATED CHILD’S BLANKET CHEST. Late 18th, early 19th century. This nice 6 board example with hinged rectangular lid applied with molded edges opening to an interior with till. Dovetailed case on a molded base raised on bracket feet with scalloped shaped apron. The whole in red paint; the lid paint-decorated with two aligned tablets, each with three stylized tulips beneath three rondels painted with flowerheads and pinwheel. Brass escutcheon within a painted yellow flowerhead. SIZE: 15″ h x 31-1/2″ l x 15″ d. CONDITION: Original painted surfaces with wear and craquelure. Hinges replaced. Repair to proper right rear bracket foot. Overall good. 9-22033 (1,000-1,500)
