AMERICAN CARVED MAHOGANY WINGED GRIFFIN ARMCHAIR. Late 19th century. The shaped, padded, rectangular back joined to conforming stiles continuing to molded swelled arms, the sides in the form of scrolled wings, the hand grips in the form of open-mouthed griffins on acanthus-carved supports continuing to carved hairy paw feet. Upholstered in original red patterned fabric. SIZE: 35″ h. of back. CONDITION: Retains original finish and upholstery, the frame with mellow patina. Structurally sound. 9-92945 (400-600)
