HERMANN GUSTAV SIMON (American, 1846-1895) “A PERFECT FIND”. Outstanding oil on canvas hunting dog scene shows two Setters, one standing at point, the other laying down in a grass area pointing off to the right at an unseen game. Late fall scene with the hillside having trees, bushes, grass, and large rocks. Gray clouds fill the sky. Signed lower right “Hermann Simon 1879″. Housed in a magnificent and possibly original gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 22″ x 32”. CONDITION: Relined, craquelure, very good. 9-23577 (5,000-8,000)
