REMINGTON HEPBURN NO. 3 SPORTING & TARGET SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. SN 1984. Cal. 45-70. Fine single shot rifle with 26-1/4″ oct to rnd medium weight bbl, Rocky Mtn. front sight with German silver blade, Remington semi-buckhorn rear sight and a thick base tang sight with 3-1/4″ vernier staff. Mounted with straight grain American walnut with, long, uncheckered rounded forearm with case colored steel schnable tip and raised panels at the receiver. Buttstock has a checkered round knob pistol grip with raised panels at the receiver and a case colored smooth steel buttplate. This would make an outstanding cowboy action shooter as well as a fine collectible. PROVENANCE: Bruce M. Cady Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains about 90% strong glossy orig blue with fine surface etching over the forearm area and a few light scratches and surface etching on the round portion of the bbl. Receiver retains most of its orig factory case colors, strong & bright on the sides, fading to silver over the top & bottom. Buttstock has a small gouge on left side, otherwise wood is sound and retains most of its hand worn oil finish. Forend tip & buttplate retain strong case colors turning silver on forend cap, faded on heel & toe of buttplate. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. 4-36925 JR229 (5,000-7,000)
