ASSEMBLED SET OF EIGHT FEDERAL MAHOGANY SQUARE BACK CHAIRS. First quarter 19th century, probably New York. Comprised of a set of four with two armchairs and two side chairs each with fluted tablet crest above four splats of reeded colonnettes headed by carved fan capitals, all with striped silk overupholstered seats raised on square tapering reeded frontal legs terminating in marlborough feet. Also includes a pair of similar side chairs with sunburst tablet crests and a single carved armchair with plume and drape carved splat. SIZE: 36″ to 37″ h of backs. CONDITION: All with original surfaces. Generally good. No restoration or damage noted. 9-28225 (1,000-1,800)
