RARE REMINGTON-BEALS PRESENTATION SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. SN NONE VISIBLE. Cal. 32 RF. Very rare rifle with less than 800 produced in the period 1866-1870. Reference Flayderman’s Guide to Antique American Firearms. Rifle has 24″ light oct to rnd bbl with small dovetailed German silver front sight with bead and a 2-position rear sight that has one altered leaf. Top flat of bbl, back of rear sight, has the 2-line Beals Patent & Remington address. Frame is nickeled brass which is inscribed on right side in period script “From Dunn to J.J. German”. Mounted with straight grain, uncheckered American walnut with nickeled brass crescent buttplate. These delicate light weight little rifles are rarely encountered today, apparently never having been popular with the buying public. PROVENANCE: Bruce M. Cady Estate Collection. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl is cleaned metal patina with some scattered discoloration near the muzzle. Frame retains 70-75% orig nickel with the exposed brass a medium mustard patina. Stock is missing a sliver by top tang otherwise is sound with handling & use nicks & scratches in varnish and overall retains most of its orig factory finish.
