JOHN WALTER SCOTT (American, 1907-1987) OUTMATCHED. Interesting gouache scene shows three men in a rowboat who have harpooned a large sawfish at nighttime. The man in the back shines a bright light exposing the giant fish as he surges out of the water with the embedded harpoon which is attached to the bow of the small rowboat. Signed lower left. Housed in a green marbleized frame with white & green matte. SIZE: Sight: 16″ x 12-1/2″. PROVENANCE: From a private New York Collection. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. 9-22458 (1,500-2,500)
