SETH THOMAS PILLAR & SCROLL SHELF CLOCK. First quarter 19th century, Connecticut. This nice mahogany example; the eglomise panel and dial decorated with masonic symbols. The paint-decorated wooden dial with Roman numeral chapter ring centering time and strike apertures, centering additional masonic symbols. With thirty hour weight driven movement. The clock retains Seth Thomas label glued within the case on backboard. Clock is offered with two weights, pendulum bob, original brass finials, and winder. SIZE: 31-1/4″ h x 17-1/2″ w x 4-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From the private collection and estate of Robert Nugent, Glenridge, New Jersey. CONDITION: Generally very good, with old surfaces, original dial, and eglomise tablet. Gallery or return, right side facing and left rear foot facing, are later replacements. 9-28267 (700-900)
