HITCHCOCK STYLE STENCILED AND PAINT-DECORATED MAMMY’S BENCH. Late 19th century. American. Rectangular crest rail stencil decorated with cornucopia joined to twelve swelled spindles, down-swept arms with rolled grips centering rectangular shaped planked seat fitted with child guard. Whole raised on turned legs joined by rectangular box stretcher. Bench with simulated rosewood graining foliate stencils and painted line design. SIZE: 30″ h x 50-1/2″ l. CONDITION: Seat with some shrinkage cracking, crest rail with losses to paint on edges 9-24446 (700-800)
