CHINESE EXPORT ARMORIAL CIDER JUG WITH LID. Last quarter 18th-century China. This fine example applied with a strap handle terminating in leaf and feathertips. The sides with an oval crusting centering a three letter gold gilt monogram. The cobalt blue and gilt decorated cartouche surmounted by a pair of doves. The fitted lid with cobalt blue decorated border and surmounted by a gilt decorated Foo dog finial. SIZE: 10-3/4h. PROVENANCE: By descent through a fine Rhode Island family. CONDITION: Retains overall original decoration. One inch tight hairline crack at finial. Small chip proper right side of spout. 9-20060 (1,500-2,500)
