STEINWAY AND SONS CONCERT GRAND MODEL “D” PIANO. 1881-1882. New York. Serial number 49248. This fine example in rosewood case, professionally refinished and restored. Raised on square tapering molded Marlborough legs. Piano is offered with modern walnut bench. SIZE: 105″ l x 59″ w x 39-1/2″ h. PROVENANCE: Previously owned by Mr. Owen Wister, trained pianist who, as a child, once played for Franz Liszt. Mr. Wister was author of “The Virginian”. CONDITION: Instrument retains strong clear tones with good action. Synthetic keys replaced original ivories in 1985. 9-24290 (4,000-6,000)
