TWO NEEDLEWORKS. The first, a needlework of the British Isles. The work of “Ann Field her work Feb 1, 1819” within a banner. The oval piece wrought in silk threads of earth tones within a floral border within an eglomise panel. The second, a Dutch pictorial needlework sampler wrought by “CATHARINA FLUTTER OUD 16 JAAR”. Depicting floral trees in urns, swans, crowned lion, basket of fruit and flowers and an image of three crosses on a green field, mounted in a maple frame of the period. SIZE: 1) Oval needlework: 16″ x 12-1/2″ sight. 2) 18″ x 16-1/4″ sight. PROVENANCE: From a fine Augusta, Maine estate. CONDITION: 1) Generally good with discoloration to foundation. Eglomise panel with craquelure. 2) Generally good with minor foxing and some overall fading. 9-29337 (1,800-2,200)
