GERMANIC CARVED AND GILT DECORATED EAGLE. Second half 19th century, Eastern Europe. This nice small pine example of a stylized eagle in flight clutching an arrow in its talons. The eagle carved from the solid with applied wings. SIZE: 16″ l x 18″ w (overall). PROVENANCE: From a fine Maine home. CONDITION: Retains original gilded surfaces with minor losses. Well delineated plumage. Small stress cracks in legs. Old repair to proper right wing at body and loss to proper left wing tip. 9-21917 (1,000-2,000)
