FINE EARLY 19TH CENTURY PICTORAL SAMPLER. Circa 1824, possibly England. This fine example of petit point depicting a stone manor house flanked by soldiers on a fanciful treed and floral landscape peopled with deer, birds and butterflies, etc. Within an arrangement of floral filled urns in a zigzag vinery borders. At the base of the work is wrought “Maryann Mascall her Work Finished December 1824”. Mounted in a bird’s eye maple frame. SIZE: 15-1/4″ x 12″ sight. PROVENANCE: From a fine Augusta, Maine estate. CONDITION: With overall toning, but remains structurally very good. Some weaknesses and minor loss along edges. Colors remain strong. 9-29336 (1,800-2,200)
