CHIPPENDALE CHERRY SLANT LID DESK. Last quarter 18th century, Southern New England. The rectangular dovetail case with hinged shell carved lid resting on lopers, opening to an interior fitted with valanced pigeon holes, and document drawers over four long thumb molded graduated drawers on a molded base, raised on bracket feet with shaped returns. SIZE: 41-1/2″ h x 34-1/2″ case w x 19″ d. PROVENANCE: From the private collection and estate of Robert Nugent, Glenridge, New Jersey. CONDITION: Desk professionally restored and re-polished. Brass hardware of the period, but not original to desk. Bracket feet with new blocking, otherwise good. 9-28212 (3,000-4,000)
